Excavation equipment and more
Construction equipment is used to build everything from malls to homes to highways that stretch on for many miles. If it were not for the heavy duty industrial machines that are in use today , construction projects would take longer and cost more. There are many different types of construction equipment that have become indispensible on the job site.
Types of Equipment
One of the most used pieces of equipment is the loader. These large pieces are capable of scooping up vast quantities of material and loading it onto a dump truck. The front of the loader has a large bucket which is used to scoop up the materials off the ground and place it where it needs to go.
Another important piece of equipment is the cement mixer truck. Just about every type of new construction uses cement in some way, such as laying foundations. It is the cement mixer that does all the work of mixing large batches of cement to be used in a variety of projects from building homes to roads. These large machines use a barrel shaped container on their back which is connected to an engine or generator. All you need to do is add gravel, cement, sand, and water and let the cement mixer do all the work.
A dump truck is an important piece of construction equipment to have on hand for large jobs. These trucks include a large container on the back that is used to store all kinds of material that needs to be removed from the construction site. The dump truck can also be used to bring materials to the construction site.
Not all equipment comes in the form of a large vehicle. Another great example of a form is the rivet gun. These important tools are used to drive rivets and are usually powered pneumatically, that is by air. One of the ways that a rivet gun is used is to secure metal girders together. Rivet guns need to be both powerful and accurate so that the rivet is put in the right location.
There are many other tools that are commonly found at a construction site. These include power tools such as saws, drills, and sprayers. They also include hand tools like hammers, shovels, screwdrivers, and saws.
The best type of equipment to use will depend on both the size and type of a job. There will be some jobs where a shovel and wheelbarrow will be perfect for mixing cement, and others that require the time and labor saving efforts of a cement mixer. The key is to pick the type that can get the job done right.
Rent or buy?
Excavation and construction companies run into the problem of not having enough equipment on a job site often. Sometimes they underestimate the job in the preliminary planning and are left with the issue of being short on equipment when time is crunching.
They have two options to remedy the situation: either rent the machinery equipment or outright purchase the needed equipment. Of course, it is not simple to make this type of decision, and therefore, there are several factors that should be considered before the decision is finalized.
How Pricey are Rentals?
Most rental companies do not hide the fact that they do make a lot of money from companies that need to rent equipment. Face it, they know you are probably in a bind and are willing to pay the cost they offer. The rental companies generally rent the equipment on a daily basis or weekly basis, which does not usually work out to benefit the customer. Depending on the area you will be working, the price can range from pretty steep to nice and affordable.
Then the price will also vary due to the type of equipment you need to rent. Generally, machinery like excavators and off-road dump trucks are probably the highest priced for renting, and can have a rental price tag of as much as $12,000 per month. This may seem pretty steep, but if your company is a profitable one that has lots of big and good paying projects lined up, the price does not become an issue.
